The concept is very simple: Water has a specific gravity (SG) of 1, which equates to 100 mBar of pressure per metre of liquid level. The pressure is measured by the level transmitter, which directly equates to the liquid level. A typical example would be 10 metres of liquid level equating to 1 bar of pressure. Other liquids such as Diesel have a different specific gravity of roughly 0.85, which means a 10-metre level would be 0.85 bar pressure.
